No previous martial arts is experience is necessary. Just turn up in loose exercise clothing - tracksuit bottoms and a t-shirt. A karate gi (suit) is useful for training, and though there is no need to purchase one immediately, if you wish to grade, train with other clubs or attend courses a gi will be necessary, and we will be able to help you with this.
Membership of the JKA, and take part in gradings and other opportunities such as squad training and selection, requires an annual fee of £32. This includes a JKA record book in which gradings and qualifications are documented. There is no membership fee to join Koutetsu Karate club.
